VRISAKI KEBAB HOUSE IS BACK in Potters Bar
On Tuesday 10th March 2026, Vrisaki Kebab House made a sensational comeback, with Andreas Antoniou and his son Tony Antoniou re-opening their Potters Bar takeaway almost 4 months since news of its closure rocked the UKβs Cypriot community and its regulars. After 44 years in business, November 2025βs closure marked the end of the road for the Vrisaki brand. It followed the closure of the original Myddleton Road restaurant back over Easter 2025, and a simultaneous change of ownership at its sister takeaway, Andyβs Kebab House in Oakwood.

Its Potters Bar takeaway offshoot, Vrisaki Kebab House, initially opened in March 2023, and also closed for a short period for repairs over winter of 2024-25. It re-opened in early 2025 before announcing that it would permanently close on Sunday 16th November 2025. A Turkish kebab business Shish βnβ Spice took its place for 4 months until a difficult period resulted in its closure and the return of Vrisaki under the same ownership this month.
Vrisaki has long carried the reputation of London and the UKβs most iconic Greek Cypriot taverna and kebab takeaway, with few others having achieved its longevity and popularity. Despite difficult conditions and economic headwinds facing the UKβs hospitality sector and forcing a flurry of closures, with a scarcity of decade-old businesses remaining, Andreas and Tony have once again demonstrated their commitment and determination to their field and their community, cutting against the grain and returning from permanent closure to keep one of the UKβs oldest Cypriot hospitality businesses alive. As Andreas once said to us, Vrisaki is his βwhole lifeβ.
